I think EMP's price to rebuild is around $250 + shpg and you get higher poerformance.

Fixed. Turned out to be a bad controller. Conflicting diagnosis with different shops.
First cart shop said bad motor.
Electric motor shop said nothing wrong with motor.
Second cart shop said controller, replaced with new 300 amp, does wheelstands from stop.
Thanks for your help.

I have been having the exact same issue with my 91 Marathon. Very low torque at startup, cant even get out of my driveway. No one on carting forums could offer a reasonable explanation. I finally found a controller diag document and mine tested bad. I ordered a new 400 amp controller on ebay and hope to have it in hand in a few days.

This thread is VERY encouraging!!

I used this guide.

Lakerattx
Hope you get your problem smoothed soon.
This one in the thread now is like the enegizer bunny
Keeps going and going
It won't pull the wheels off the ground...
But almost, it squats deep in the rear when you
push the pedal to the metal and gets gone right now !!!!!!!!!!!

This was amaizing , the defference of diag. between the two golf cart shops.
The first must not have to much biz, or shouldnt be in buesiness .
The shop that fixed our problem is a Auth. EZGO dealer and IMO deserves
Medal .
Thanks for the link you provided, I will save that .

God bless and good luck with your cart.
Let me know how it goes ...

Dude. This is the second time I have seen you posts this in somebody else's thread !? That is poor forum manners or hijacking a thread, as we say. Please go to the section that your cart fits into like electric yamaha or what? And start a new thread asking your question, you will get much better response that way, OH, and yeah include info about the yr make and mods on your cart.

Hmm, he doesn't get it.
I'm not sure how he's digging up these old threads. SEARCH perhaps?
