Default Ezgo thermal shutdown

07' ezgo pds 6" lift , 10" wheels, 22" tires.....stock wires, motor and controller w/ hill chip .....bought this to use on my hunting lease, while easing around the farm the cart will stop, after a little cool down it will run like nothing is wrong, after reading other threads it sounds like thermal shutdown..... don't want to drive full speed the terrain is to rough, but I don't want to burn up my motor or controller either.....will any upgrades help?

yes you are having thermal shutdown, because a stock PDS cart does not like the big tires and the slow driving, the controller will shut down one of these times and will not recover,
you need to upgrade your-- controller --Solenoid--and new 4ga cables, Check with Scottyb he'll take care of you, check out package #808 this is what you need for the woods

Okay, so i understand an alltrax 500 amp controller has a higher heat platform, will it help if I also get a bigger motor?

Yes as I stated in the email, the 500amp Alltrax control is built on the larger heat sink platform ( than the 400a) so using a 500a & turning it down to 400 amps could net you the coolest running controller possible

Rewind the motor for more torque as opposed to speed and you have the best possible deal for an off road PDS cart.

I will discount as a package the controller pkg and motor rewind from PQ
