Will this controller work for 36v to 48v conversion
Was checking my local CL and noticed someone selling a Alltrax DCX300 controller for $100. Its listed for a 2002 IQ cart, but since I'm converting to 48v not sure what my cart will be when done.
Currently I have a 36v 1994 CC DS that I am thinking of converting if I can justify the total price. That's why I'm looking at CraigsList for discounted parts. what you guys think will this work about this item? |

You don't want to go IQ, stay series.

IQ will use a shunt motor, versus a series motor. You want to find a series controller, and preferably with a higher amperage, but not absolutely necessary, but later on you wont have to upgrade controllers again if you wanted more amps.Your cart now is a series

Re: Will this controller work for 36v to 48v conversion
Thank you for clearing that up. Now it all makes sense. I guess I should at least look for a 400amp controller. Question is can I find one without spending $400(or more) on it?

I saw some where somebody had an Alltrax 400 amp controller and 200a solenoid for $369 with resistor and diode for 36 or 48 volts.

Re: Will this controller work for 36v to 48v conversion
Hmm. Some one huh?? What else will I need to make it a 48v? Just out of curiosity if my 6v batteries are still good can I just add a couple more for my 48v? Or...What would happen if I just run 36v with 48v controller setup till im ready to replace batteries. Any benefit worth doing it now over later?

Email me if you really want to know what I think about buying controllers on CL and what all you need to make this 48v thing happen as inexpensively as possible.
Otherwise, keep studying up & looking around. You just might find what you need |
