Tool to remove ball joints
Can someone tell me what size "pickle fork" do I need to get the ball joints loose? I am going to borrow one from my buddy tomorrow. What is the measurement between the forks? Thanks
Any tips as to not damage the ball joints? |

Re: Tool to remove ball joints
Don't waste your money, the only thing they do is damage the boots.I've been wrenching my whole-life,over 25 yrs professionally, and I work at a suspension-shop,and don't own one.Take a pry-bar,if the joint has the nut on top of the spindle, put the bar on top of the tie-rod,with the end under the axle, frame, suspension, etc. Then give the steering-arm a good, sharp crack on the side with a decent hammer. It will pop right out.You don't need a lot of pressure on the bar, just your hand-pressure can usually be sufficient.Hope this helps.
