Default 2009 CC Over Priced?

Trying to help a buddy of mine buy a used cart. We found one that looks pretty clean, but in need of batteries. It is a 2009 48 Volt Club Car and the owner is asking $1700. As I said it needs 4 new 12 volt batteries.

What is kind of throwing me off is the batteries being 12 volts. Seems like I see more of them using 6 x 8-Volt batteries. Whaat is using 12 volts telling me other than shorter range and maybe not quite as good acceleration.

If is a very clean cart and seems to be OK other than batteries are weak. For $1700 sounds good to me plus another $1000 for new set T-1275's.

I thought the 2009 model year was 6-8volt batteries. They changed mid year 2008. That’s why Precedent parts are 20XX to 2008.5 and 2008.5-up

May want to get the serial number to verify the year.

Will do. Owner is out of town so we cannot physically see the thing yet. Just pictures and what we see looks good. Was asking $2000 and accepted $1700. The add says 2009, and in one picture of the battery compartment is very clean and tired 5 year old 4 x T-1275's. Certain it is 4 x 12 volt.

Thanks for the heads up on the model year might be questionable and raises a red flag.

Follow Up Question

With respect to serial numbers what should I see for the first two Letters? PZ? Followed by something like 0816?

For a Precedent the first two letters should be PQ followed by four numbers that will give you the model year and week of the year the cart was made. For example: a 2009 Precedent manufactured the last week of January, the serial number would read:

PQ-0904-XXXXX

First 2 numbers is the model year
3rd & 4th numbers is the week of the year.
