Default Lights to voltage reducer

2010 precedent with 48 to 12 voltage reducer should my light kit be wired to the reducer. it has a red fuseable link wire run to 1 battery that I can see. My lights will currently work Evan in tow mode with key off.

Yes. Running off one battery is bad for the pack (and your lights must be pretty dull if they are running on 8 volts).

They are bright I'm not sure how they are wired but I only see 1 wire hooked to a random battery

The lights need to be wired to the reducer, preferably to to a fuse block fed by the reducer.
Are you sure that wire feeds the lights?
I would disconnect it and test the lights just to be sure.

Are the lights LEDs?
They might still run fine off 8v.
I would still run them off the voltage reducer.
Is the voltage reducer controlled by the ignition switch?

Yes I pulled the fuse and no lights work. The reducer is wired with the key switch Yes pretty sure the lights are led.
