Make sure you hold the bottom nut ( the one closest to the motor ) when you remove those cables! If the stud turns, you will have damaged the motor!

In a Sepex (SEParately EXcited) motor, like those used in DCS and PDS carts, the current flow through the Field windings is about 1/10 of the current flowing through the armature, so the cables don't have to be as large as the A1 & A2 cables. The S1 & S2 (aka F1 & F2) cable shorting out on the frame will cause the motor to have all sorts of conniptions and was probably the source of the shuddering. --------- To change from Forward to Reverse, the controller switches the direction of current flow though the Field windings. |
