Re: 94 Medalist leaf spring problem
If the vice grips don't work, I'll bet some heavy bar stock from your hoarded clutter and two 1/2" bolts and nuts, one on each side, then tighten them to squeeze them together, which will drive the bearing into the stud, driving it inside the big washer.
Hope this is clear. I often just stare at my tools, and my fasteners, hardware, clutter, etc., and something always comes up. Often walking away for a little while without thinking about it helps too. |

Re: 94 Medalist leaf spring problem
I think he's trying to avoid removing the shackles, since those fasteners may be corroded as well. Doing it in place will be difficult, but the air chisel is probably what I would have grabbed, if I looked at all of my tools.

Re: 94 Medalist leaf spring problem
You can do it in the cart.Grab the shackle with a pair of vise-grips and hold onto them while you rattle the bolt(gloves help reduce the tingling!!).

Re: 94 Medalist leaf spring problem
Hey guys, thanks for all your help, but after trying to get it out for nearly three hours today I decided to just cut it off and replace the whole assembly with an OEM one. Turns out they come from the factory with that bolt already stuck in there. They must use some sort of industrial strength adhesive. Don't know why they wouldn't just weld it on there, but whatever. I've attached a pic of what they look like from ezgo's website if anyone's interested. Peace.

Sweet!
Mine just use a nut and bolt. I love DIY, but your time and sanity are worth something. |
