2000 pds contoller / switch / direction ruining my weekend

Flight systems told me there is no difference in the various pds controllers. I confirmed this with ezgo. I have another new controller in hand, but am mortified to smoke it. Their tech's inspection said there must be a problem in the wiring harness. I searched and searched and found one of the tiny wires from one of the directional micro switches was pinched between a metal wire holder bracket and the frame. When I chased the wire it connects to the wire that goes to pin 3 in the 10 wire harness. I do not know what that wire is, so could a short of such a such a tiny wire cause the controllers to go up in smoke so quick?

if your frame is grounded it could cause a short .. frame should not be grounded on a golf cart !!! ... check and see if frame is grounded before you go on
