For those of you who Fab
I recently bought Heim Joints from this place
http://www.midwestcontrol.com/ I bought 10 5/8 x 5/8 Chrome moly heims with teflon races and 10 5/8 x 1/2 heims chrome moly with teflon races, They appear to be very good quality and at around 7 bucks each, very well worth the deal. The factory is in Hildago Mex, (just like almost ever other product in america these days) but hey, it least its not chinese Check it out, they have all kinds of rod ends, heims, cable setups etc. Brian Last edited by Monster Cart; 02-09-2008 at 02:25 PM.. Pricing is really good if your ordering 10 or more. They don't seem to carry the threaded inserts in mild. Only Chromo or Aluminum. If you have to order those from someone else you get hit with shipping twice.

Re: For those of you who Fab
I'm building an A-arm suspension using 1 1/4 11ga tubing and don't have an idea which are the right heim joints to order. Can someone point me in the right direction to a set of heim joints and threaded inserts? Would it work to put one heim joint on the top of each spindle for adjustability, and use bushings on all the other connections? Where's a place to find bushings?

Re: For those of you who Fab
what i did was buy a bunch of EZ-GO leaf spring bushing and just put the bushings in 1" tubing for the arm mounts. its a cheaper route.

Re: For those of you who Fab
For high quality Delrin bushings the best source I've come up with is an ebay store called something like Fabrication Needs. They've got bushings with a .120 wall DOM housing and the inner sleeve for $10 ea. Or you could check auto parts stores for a poly bushing kit with a dia. that would fit inside you're tubing. Not sure of an exact application for that.

Re: For those of you who Fab
Thanks for the info and links. I'll probably use bushings to mount the arms to the frame and heim joints on the spindles. Those threaded bungs are what I was looking for.

Re: For those of you who Fab
These are the bushings I used for my link bars.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290296948438 The bolted right up in place of the front leaf spring mounts using the stock bolt. |
