Pack charge
Still understanding what I have in recent golf cart purchase.
I charged the batteries and i think charger has been off for around 10 hours and have a pack charge of 37.7 on my EZGO 36V DCS cart. Should I see more volts sitting after a charge? Can you tell anything of the batteries from this information? My kids drive it more than I do...and they have not complained about the cart running out of juice. They have asked if I can make it go faster, but will be putting in new controller, solenoid, and 2 AWG cables in soon. Thx Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: Pack charge
At 37.7 you are about 85% full charge. Most likely scenario is, you have one battery going South. If you have a voltmeter, disconnect the negatives and check each battery individually. Do you know how old the pack is?

Re: Pack charge
No need to disconnect any wires to check individual voltages, electricity follows the shortest path "home" and the other batteries wont affect the readings.

There's a speed chip you can get to speed it up.Very cheap to buy an easy to install. It sped mine from @16mph a little over 20mph |

Re: Pack charge
One thing a DCS stock controller does not like is low Volts. Not sure how low your kids are running the battery pack down to ?. But Running a DCS cart on a low battery pack will burn up the controller. 36 volts 50% charged on a golf cart battery pack is considered dead, time to recharge, As said in another post, No need to disconnect and battery cables to check volts on each battery. A DCS controller does not have a slot in the controller to insert a Speed Chip in to , that is a PDS drive system that will take a Chip for speed. Take your volt meter. And hook the leads to each battery and drive the cart, and see what the volts read and post them here. That will tell us alot about the batteries

Do I understand this chart correctly?
My pack right now is 38.8 on a 36v system after sitting for a while. So my pack is at 100 percent charged. So you do the charge and let it finish...then give it some time 1 to 12 hours and see what the "real" pack charge is at or holding? So the ideal target is 38.2 after you give it time off the charger? I have seen people post to check it 1 hour after charge and seen I think up to 12 hours... If after you charge and wait...and you have 37.5volts on the pack, this would mean your battery pack is only holding a 80 percent charge? Thx Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: Pack charge
More like 65 - 70% percent charged if it 37.05. And 80% if it's 37.50. One hour after the charge finished is not a true reading on the battery pack. It still has a surface charge. After the battery pack is charged, and charger turns off on it's own. Then after 12 hours at rest will tell you what the pack true pack volts are. that's how you judge your battery pack SOC

At what pack volts would be considered too low and damage a DCS controller?
