I have one of these I plan on using when it gets to be time to change the batteries in my RXV. It comes in handy for all sorts of stuff, lifting inboard engines out of jet boats, playing floor jack for the golf cart, lifting generators out of the back of pick up trucks, .....

The picture is not of my actual unit, mine is the same model tough PDCM-20-106, maybe with paint in a little better shape
Will lift 2,000 pounds to 106 inchs on a 24 inch load center

You are way over thinking this. As long as you have a lifting strap, it's not that hard to get them out and in. I think those crain things would be harder to work with because you need to guide the batteries in.

In Scotty's case, if he's doing it for a living and he has a bad back, maybe it's worth it. But for most of us, the strap is all you need.

Ps when I say strap, I mean a strap designed for batteries. They sell em all over.

Over thinking this? The OP asked for ways to save wear and tear on his bum shoulders while changing batteries by himself. Your answer? Use a battery strap. With what? His teeth?

I have a bad back. Even so, the strap makes it eazy enough. I wouldn't want to be doing it all day, but one set is OK. If his shoulders are that bad, I think I would get someone else. If it takes one minute to change a battery, we're talking six minutes.

You mentioned a mini engine lift. What's wrong with a regular size engine lift?

Nothing, if you have the room to store it. I barely have room to work on the cart (too much stuff).

Now getting someone else to do it for me, is tough- My son has a full time job and works over a lot, and My neighbors are not always there- I really like Scotty's idea
I just got a two wheeler to make a cart to get my john boat from the barn to the lake

Yeah I made that lift from a hand-truck and a $50 HF winch in an afternoon with pulley & scrap laying around the shop. At the time my back was 'out' and batteries were a real pain. Winds up I used it for years and it's simple to use, very maneuverable, & never lifting a thing while swapping 1000 pounds of batteries a day. 2 yrs ago I stopped doing service work it became the lift for big rolls of welding cable.

I have R&Red a few electric motors with it too
