Default Am I over charging?

2000 TXT Series 36v

Continued from my last thread-

I picked up a used battery to replace the one that was dead. (All I'm trying to do is test the cart before I buy new batteries) Dropped it in and charger fired right up. It's been on for several hours. My volt gauge reads 40.4v and charger is still going. I can also hear the last battery in the series sound like its boiling. (This is the same spot the dead battery was at).

Is this ok, or do I have a charger issue?

A 36 volt charger may charge as high as 44.5 while in bulk high amp phase and 48.6 while in finish low amp phase...

As to position as long as properly hooked up in series the location means nothing, every bit of charge goes through every battery...

Charger okay - batteries weak. The cut off point will be 44-46v. What you might want to look at is the individual battery voltage. If some are taking a charge and some are no taking so much the good ones may be getting quite high in voltage which can be harmful if a 6v exceeds 8v.

Thanks for the info. I'll take individual readings as soon as I get back home. I knew the batteries weren't gonna get me far anyway.
The main thing is... It runs! Now I can focus on new batteries and upgrades.

Or refurb batteries and sell. I still can't decide.

Well for half the price and 1 year transferable warranty the guy can call them whatever he wants. LOL

I'm certainly not going to drop new ones in if I decide to sell it. But the buyer needs to see it works and these certainly ain't gonna cut it.

Curious Ronman where are you? Like what state. Since you have heard of refurbished batteries. I like treeCo haven't heard of them.

I'm in S. Texas. The guy that sells the refurbs is out of San Antonio. I've been seeing his ads for quite a while, so I think he's legit. I've talked him twice, and he hasn't tried to fast talk me or anything. Pretty upfront with what he's selling and what to realistically expect.
