Default 3 to 4 post controller problem

I have a 2002 ezgo txt electric non pds system. The cart will not run. I replaced the solenoid, and the speed controller. The cart still does not run. I was wondering if the problem was the fact that my old controller had B+, B-, M- while my new controller has a B+, B-, M-, and now A2. I left the A2 post on the controller empty. Is that the problem or is there more to it.

You say it is a non PDS cart. But it sounds like you have a sepex cart. Is it a DCS?

There is absolutely nothing in the OP that would indicate a sepex cart. The cart is a 2002 and cannot be a DCS. Quit guessing.

E-Z-GO stopped production of the DCS drive system in 1999 when they switched to PDS/ The fact he has a 4 post controller does not indicate a sepex drive system. Older Series carts used the 4 post controller because they had "plug braking". Plug Braking used the extra post to bleed off energy when you switched from one direction to another while the cart was still in motion.

Getting back to the OP. The fact you are using a slightly different controller will not effect the running of the cart in this instance. We would need more information to assist in diagnosing the problem. Pack voltage at rest? Voltages on the large posts of the solenoid before and after engaging the throttle? Is the solenoid clicking?

I am getting 37.0 volts from the batteries. I may have found the solution in the F&R switch. One of the cables had corroded off. I'll have to fix this first before I can go any further. But I would still like to know if that controller should for sure work for my cart. And yes the solenoid is clicking.

Do I need to run the A2 wire from the motor to the controller and then from the controller to the F&R switch. Or is going from the motor to the switch alright?

Going from motor to F&R is preferred.

Don't even use the A2 wire. It was a weak link anyway
