48 to 12 converter wiring
I have a 2003 CC DS. Series. Installing a 48 to 12 converter. Got this of eday. Yes I screwed up. The instructions that came with it said yellow to battery pack positive, Black to pack negative. Then it said black to key switch. In the wire description # 1 yellow to pack pos. #2 green to ing. switch (key turned on) blue wire, #3 black pack neg. .#4 red 12volt out,#5 blue memory. I have hooked up yellow to pack pos. Ran wires up to dash to fuse block. Went to check out to see if I have 12volts out an when I touch the neg.Black wire to pack. Neg. it seem like a dead short. Hooked up green wire to ing. switch still got a big spark. Not sure what is going on. Need HELP.

Re: 48 to 12 converter wiring
You need to reformat your picture. Uploading from your phone makes it too large for the site.
Here is a drawing supplied by Carts Unlimited for that style converter. |

Re: 48 to 12 converter wiring
Are you saying it came with 2 sets of instructions?

Ok I see what Nole is saying. We can't see all of the text in your photo. Need to see that to understand what is going on.

Re: 48 to 12 converter wiring
Thanks NoleFan for the quick reply. I have it wired like the diagram shows. I tried to check my 12 volt feed before I hook up my accessorizes. Put Yellow wire on pack. pos. an went to put black on pack neg. got a big spark like a dead short. I did not have it hook to the ing. switch. Hooked
green wire to ing. switch (key on 48v post) went to hook up black wire to neg pack still get a dead short. |

Re: 48 to 12 converter wiring
It could just be the capacitors charging in the reducer upon the first hookup.

Re: 48 to 12 converter wiring
Thanks swm63. It was just the capacitor charging up. Just got me a little nerves when it sparked.
Thanks for all the info. Will do better with taptalk next time.New to iPhone an golf carts. |

Re: 48 to 12 converter wiring
Yep, it will do it every time. Next time pull the Main Neg and when you are done with the converter, then use a incandescent light bulb on the main negative post and then touch the cable to the base of the bulb until the light goes out. Then hook it all back up.

Re: 48 to 12 converter wiring
All of the converters throw a spark when you first hook them up. Nothing to worry about as long as you're not in a room filled with gas!
