Default Rxv rear end assembly

Hey guys I’m thinking about replacing my rear end with a part 630901 and found one on the internet for under $700 and would need to pat for truck shipping.

It’s making noise and thought about doing the input shaft swap and fluid change but don’t know if that will resolve it and don’t want to throw good money after bad.

I spoke to my local ezgo dealer and they said generally it’s the main gears and backlash adjustment. They quoted me $785 for gear and lube replacement.

So back to replacement what’s your thoughts, any better prices out there or trusted vendors, or a way to get gear set cheaply so that I can get a local buddy go through it and set it up right.

In what part/county of Alabama are you located? I might be able to point you to a source.

I am just south of you in Montevallo/Pelham. You might want to check with Joe's Lawnmower Shop in Opp (don't let the name and location fool you, he covers at least 3 full city blocks, which is impressive for a town that does not even have a walmart, only a DG). Last time I was down there, he had several RXV's that I would consider salvage.

If you talk to him, tell him the guy from Montevallo sent you.

Gas gears won't work. And there is no adjustment in there.

So option A = If I wanted to buy a replacement gear set, and bearings, etc. to rebuild mine. I found the intermediate gear and primary ring for $600+

Option B = replcae the entire assembly seems like a better way to go since everything is new and found at least one online vendor for $750 for this.

I figured the dealer was shooting me a line of crap about replacing gears and backlash adjustment.

Any good sources for either, what do you suggest?

For the money, a whole new axle is the better value. Be careful, there are 2 different dana axles for Rxv electric, and they don't interchange easily.

the gears just bolt in, no adjustment.

It's a shame when a shop tells customers lies like this. (you have to set the back lash). It's not a car rear end
