Ok so it doesn't look too bad to take apart. I'm going to do it no matter what just to give everything a once over. At the moment I can't find any info on my motor. It looks like a stock club car 48V motor. So getting brushes and anything else should be easy, right.......?

That sounds like mine did before it let go, it looks like the fibrous tape from speed sensor end of armature around the copper wiring came loose and was flapping a little then come off and totalled the end of the armature, when I pulled it apart that's what was loose and smashed up. Check the damage pic.its quite easy to get apart to check and I would do it before it lets go.

The motor should have a tag on it. If it is a stock CC motor, it will say Club Car and it will look like the tag in Hornsta's second pic...

I had loud clicking noise as I gave mine the pedal. none when coasting. Took motor into shop and had cleaned up and checked for $138. Still the noise was there. Took off rear end housing and took apart. Low & behold there was 2 busted bearings in there. So I replaced all 6 for about $60. easy do it yourself job
