Default G3 too fast starting

I have a 1987 G3 electric. Just got it and it runs out good but when you hit the pedal the acceleration is too extreme. Feels like it is going to tear the rear end up. Any ideas?

Is this a Sun Classic? Resistor cart?

Edit: based on your user name it obviously is.

They use essentially the exact same drive system as the G2-E. Check the wiper switch to make sure all contacts are even and the travel is right.

Or... convert it to a controller system. cartsunlimited.net is a great place to look for series cart upgrades!

It is under a plastic cover in the center of the batteries.

LukeL. Thanks again. Removed the switch lever and true’ed up the brass and cleaned up the other contacts. Very smooth now.
