Re: 1986 G1 Must Choke To Run
I have said this before but it is amazing how many things can be wrong with a gas G1 and the thing will still run.

Re: 1986 G1 Must Choke To Run
I just got my engine back together, and shazaam, runs like a top. I replaced the crank seals and put in a new piston and rings and that dude runs like a scalded dog. The cart has plenty of power for climbing and decent top end, however the motor is no where near wound tight so I think a little governor work is in order after some more break-in. By the way, save your money on the clutch removal tool, just find a 1/2" rod around 5 1/2" long and cut a 1 1/2" long x 5/16" step in one end and get your hands on a 14mm x 1 bolt to thread into the end of the clutch shaft and you got yourself a cheap puller.
Thanks for all the help guys. Now it's time for a lift, some tires, and a little body work. |

Re: 1986 G1 Must Choke To Run
Right now, I call it the "Green Hornet". As you can tell some knucklehead gave it a brush paint job with the ugliest green, right over the duct taped cracked fiberglass. I plan on starting on pulling the body off this weekend and getting to work with some Long & Strong on the broken body and a local upholstry shop can tackle the seats. I've seen lots of great ideas from other posts for paint color and upgrades so now I need to decide on a color.
I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for all the help guys. |
