Default Timing a Yamaha G14 Engine

Hello to all.
I have begun an overhaul of my G14. Tore apart the engine and found a broken cam. Trying my hand at a rebuild. How do you time this engine. I see the holes that are on the gears of the crank, cam, and balance shaft, but how do you line them up? Thanks for all information.

You can buy yhem online through Yamaha's publisher:

http://store.kencook.com/yml/index.cfm?event=consumer

EBay usually has them on CD, cheaper but the printed manual is esier to use and the illustrations are a lot better.......

I looked on the link you gave but I was unable to find a service manual for a G14 model. They don"t seem to have manuals for all the models that they offer. Maybe I missed. Any other info. Thanks.

The service manual for G14's is under "lit-19616-00-00 Ultima s/m". It covers many Yamaha models.

will a service manual for a G2/G9 work for giving me the information on timing? I don;t want to spend $85.00 for of the G14 just to time the engine, and it might not run after that. The G2/G9 manuals I have found are considerably cheaper. Any other sources for this info or literature? Thanks.
