Default K&N filter and jetting--any ideas

Looking at finishing up my build, we have taken it out a couple time already and it runs good...but could always get better. I have searched on here for some help, but kind of came up empty handed. I'm looking at keeping my stock exhaust, but would like to add a "cone" style K&N air filter and of course re-jet the carb.

Anyone have reference to the place I can buy the "cone" style and jets. I am very familiar with jetting and the procedures to making sure its not too rich or too lean and would rather not play that game. Input on maybe what someone else is using with a similar setup would be great...give me a place to start. Not looking at spending 15 bones on a single jet, to find out I need to try 3 other ones.

I do have a 5" lift, 22" tires, and torque kit so I'm not going for speed...but a little pep. Any help??

Jakes has a good air intake system. I also went with the exhaust/header from them. I HAD to reject because with all the air the cart would bog at full throttle or anything but idol.
Here is the link to the performance kit, which is the air intake.

To do over I would "Slowly" drill my own jet a bit bigger and bigger until it runs properly. But you can buy one for 15 bucks or so. I called and talked with these guys and they have three different sizes of Jets. I got the largest and it worked fine for me but I have the header as well.

I believe Ezgokilla has a 3" cone filter system that he is not using. Maybe PM him and see if it is for sale....

Also, here is a photo of mine.

Thanks for the reply. I wish I could run with different exhaust, but the campgrounds around here don't care too much for loudness.

I may end up just drilling my stock jet, but I need a source for the "cone" filter/pre-prefilter and possibly the adapter.

I emptied (removed all slip in parts, that 90* elbo and that vortex thing)everything in my air box except for the filter and foam. Then I left the long snorkle off. I then drilled the jet to .042. But I am at 1200 feet elevation and the plug is tan now, but my car is going up to 6500 ft. elev. soon. So I don't know what changes if any i may have to do. Throttle responance is improved and it gets speed quicker, more HP? who knows. Exhaust is stock, don't want it loud. This is on a G8 (mechcanicaly like a G9).
Jets are to expensive, so you might as well ruin one as buy 2 or 3.
Shawn, a member on here, has done alot of this. Search for his imput.

I wanted to keep the stock air box for water prevention and in dusty conditions, the only dirty air that the filter is exposed to is what the engine is going to use. Is my theory anyway.

My experience with mesh filters is, for race cars their fine (torn down often and rebuilt) but for long term "they only catch large bugs and small birds"

Warning: you need to know how to read a plug. Running an engine lean, can lead to catastropic engine failure in a matter of seconds. And this aint no SH$&!

Thanks for the ideas guys. I think I might try to just drill my own jet and go ahead with the filter and pre-filter.

Mike, very familiar with reading a plug. I've tinkered with quads for quite a while, just kind of new in the golf cart game...but not for long, second project G2 already in the garage waiting for tear-down.

Does anyone know of a UNI Filter part number that wont hit the tank or a rubber elbow to re-position it?
Thanks.
