Talking G9 cleanup turned rebuild

Hey all, I bought a hurtin 91 G9 last year for transportation around Mopar Nationals, was (and is) my first cart. Having just booked camp sites for this years race, I thought it would be a good idea to take the body off and clean it up. After finding this site my project has snowballed into a complete tear down/resto/obsession!

Anyways, still in it's early stages but the frame has been sandblasted and is headed out to powder coat, engine is out and heading for bead blasting, 6" jakes lift and 22" tires on route. I'm sure I won't stop there but it's all the budget can afford for now! Here are some pics, will post more as things progress.

Thanks for the great posts and information!

Thanks guys! I don't dare look at the big block section... would definately lead to a divorce at this point! Save that for next winters project

Whats this about drilling out the governor? I was thinking about bypassing it completely but am worries about others taking it for a boot and blowing the engine. Is there a way to get a bit more speed out of it without loosing the idiot proofing?

pull the threaded rod out of it and loosly zip tie it shut, go for a run and by tightening the zip tie you can adjust the top rpms and keep the gov functioning, while increasing your speed.

I hope things don't get that involved on the 91 G9 I just picked up for the wife it, like yours was supposed to be cheap neighborhood transport . Your cart is already looking Great, good luck with the build.
