NO Choke, No Go and other questions
I need help. We just bought an 83 G1 Yamaha. The cart bogs out and will only run when operating choke in & out. Do you think it needs new crank seals?
Also, if it is the seals what else should I replace while working on it? Gaskets, rings, etc? Will the service manual give step by step instructions? In addition, I would like to add a rear seat. Can I do this by changing shocks and not modifying the suspension? Lastly, do you know of a good parts supplier? Thanks for the help! I hope I didn't bite off more than I can chew!! |

Re: NO Choke, No Go and other questions
I just replaced crank seals in my 86 G1 for the same reason, and it runs fine now. I just baught a re-build kit from Buggies Unlimited since they are just up the road from me and no shipping. They have mail order. It included rings and piston and seals and gaskets. You will have to come up with a clutch puller for the inner clutch sheave. If you need info, I can detail what I made to get it off.

Re: NO Choke, No Go and other questions
This link should get you to what I purchased. I just bought the piston and ring kit that came with piston, rings, wrist pin, and clips. I also bought the head and base gaskets along with both crank seals. I thought, since I had the engine out anyway, might as well re-ring too.
Seals alone Would have fixed my choking problem, but good oportunity to rebuild. Hope it helps. |

Re: NO Choke, No Go and other questions
Give our own site sponsors a call for your engine parts, they are one of the reasons this site is rated number one on the internet.
BU doesn't support this site or offer the great tech support here like they do. |

Re: NO Choke, No Go and other questions
Sorry Crash, I didn't think about that. I was just givin a brother the info I used. BU is just up the road for me so no shipping. I'm sure any supplier would be able to provide the info and parts you need and you can find them in the sponsors section.
