Rejet Kit
I have a friend who races 4 wheelers and he has a supply of jets. Does anybody know the proper size I can usw for a stock motor to give some HP improvement. I am also guessing I will need to open up the air box.

Re: Rejet Kit
I have gutted the stock air box and snorkle (stock muffler) but have retained the stock filter and foam cover and I have drilled the main jet to .042. But my G8 is running at 6500 feet elevation, and I haven't checked the plug yet, but it checked good at 1200 feet, so I'm assuming it's ok now.
When you make changes like this you need to read the plug. Different altitudes will require different jet sizes |

Re: Rejet Kit
i rejetted my '97 club car. it didn't really make any noticable difference. probably need to breath easier......ie. a different air filter, and exaust. probably only really worth doing for altitude.

Re: Rejet Kit
I noticed quite a difference in throttle response. It was a tad better coming out of the hole.
Kevin, I don't know much about golf cars, this is my first one, but I'm just applying the basic rules of performance, in trying to free up tipical restrictions in the internal combustion engine. i have retained the stock muffler to keep it quiet (camp site), so I'm not going to gain to much. i wanted to keep the stock filter housing for the large surface area of the stock filter and water/dust prevention. Phantom, just putting a larger jet in won't get you anything in most cases, you need to make it breath better. More air in and more air out, then jet accordingly. In my post above, the .042 at 1200 ft. was just barely there (plug reading), but I knew it was going to a ligher evlevation so I left it just a bit lean. I live in Phoenix (very hot!) so if it was gona stay here, I would have jetted it a little bigger, for cooling. Hope this helps! Mike |

Re: Rejet Kit
if you want more power out of you stocker........your not really going to get it without changing something.......mill the head for compression, relieve the head so it can reath better, k&n air filter, different exaust with rejetted carb. in the end there is only so much that you are going to get out of your motor. they were designed to go slow, and not be run at high rpm, or for long periods of time. most of these things will shorten your motors life. if you want noticable power: transplant a bigger motor. if you are happy with little gains you could probably get it out of your stocker. i've seen a couple of motors that run a blower. probably cheaper to swap. or......swapping is always an option when your motor blows up. i did everything your talking about....now i'm swapping. good luck. don't let my teen son or his friends near your cart and it will definately live longer.

Re: Rejet Kit
Thanks
My cart is mostly used in campgrounds so quiet exaust is a must and I am not looking for a speed machine with this one that is what I bought the Club Car to build someday. So I just want a little more fuel and open up the air box for better throttle responce and power comming up the hills. The rev limiter will still kick in at 19 mph so I am not going to get more speed. |
