G2 Lift/tires
Got my Duro Desert 22x11x10 tires/wheels and "economy" 4 inch lift kit yesterday. Had to make a few minor "adjustments" to get everything fitted, but no big problems.
Brother-in-law was over and he just HAD to help (sigh). He trimmed the plastic rear inner fender liner with a razor knife - but got a bit too enthusiastic and also "trimmed" by gas tank! @$#(*U*!! Actually just a small slit which I repaired after a quick 6 mile drive to the nearest hardware store for some JB WELD. Also had to adjust a bit of the metal trim piece at the bottom of the body as it was just touching the rear tires on either side. Sawz-All made a quick job of it. Today I hope to w2ork in the front end -- WAY too much toe-in (tires slant outward from top to bottom). I thin I can fix that by moving the front shock extensions down a bit to push to a-arms down about an inch or so. Also, the driver's side tire looks like it is back about an inch more than the passenger side - it just barely rubs at the back of the wheel well whereas the passenger side has just a bit of room. Am I missing some adjustment to correct that? Could I fix it using the steering arm adjustments? As soon as I get it all adjusted so I can ride it I'll put the plastic back on it and post some pics. Thanks for your help. |

Re: G2 Lift/tires
there is no camber adj. on the G2's and the steering assembly should not be used to correct tracking issues. as far at the unequal droop in the suspension i had a similar issue and it was resolved with the replacement of the coil overs. Good luck with your build!!

Re: G2 Lift/tires
Post some pics anyway so we can help with your questions.
If you say the top of the tire is leaning out? moving the A-arm down will worsen that. Try to get the toe set pretty close before you start changing a bunch of stuff. If you have to much toe in the tires will try to drive to the center of the cart and the tops will lean out, As you back up the tires will try to roll wider and pull the bottoms out. Toe out will do the oposite. Also make sure you have equal air pressure in all of your tires. A few pounds more will make a tire larger and seem closer than the other side. |
