Default Need help removing fuel filter

I removed the fuel cap/fuel filter that is located on the bottom of the fuel tank. I want to remove the filter that is attached to the cap and put in a inline fuel filter. How do I get that filter off? I have all the paper filter off I can not get the metal base of the filter off. I would leave it but it has glue/paper on it. If I do I guess the inline filter will catch it. I got my new fuel pump today and want to go carting.

I fixed it. I took my dremmel tools and grinded out all the glue. It is nice and clean now. What idiot designed putting the fuel filter there in the first place. Now I will have a easy to get to inline filter.

The good thing about that design is the fuel filter never got dirty because it never picked up fuel off the bottom of the tank, thus never getting any dirt in it. Since yamaha didnt make any money off of that great design, they changed it.

Ya, I would never change its location. Works well, easy to clean, allot of surface area and nice clean installation.
Fuel moves through it so slowly, dirt never gets imbeded in it, so a simple back wash cleans it out.
Works good for me.

A guy I know bought a new one and it came with no gasket, oops that caused a leak. Yeah you hardly ever have to change them. I ran one inline too mostly so I could see the fuel flow.
