Default Looking for torque spring only 97 G-16A

Hello to all, this is my first post to the forum. Have been getting a lot of good information so far by searching and am very impressed with the amount of support available. I am in the process of trying to get some low end grunt for my 97 G-16. I have removed the driven clutch (thanks Spriddle) and it seems to be in pretty good condition. I will replace the ramp shoes as they are worn some (not shot but worn). I notice that the C-clip has already been replaced by a spacer but the original "tanged" spring is still there. I think I would like to put this back together with a torque spring but cannot find anyone selling just the spring only (I don't need the spacer). I'm looking for some information on what spring I should be using. My cart will not be lifted and will retain the stock tires/wheels. As an alternate, I was also considering to put back a new stock "tanged" spring but wound tighter. Any thoughts on this ??
Also, I am considering having the movable sheave machined a bit. Any comments on this mod would be appreciated.
In addition, I am also looking at using one of Plowmans "big" belts. Does anyone think this may be overkill with a machined sheave.
I use this cart to run back and forth to a nearby lake (about 3 city blocks) but with some killer hills. I have a seat kit and am trying to carry 3 passengers. This golf cart is not happy

Thanks in advance - Ray in Erie, PA

Ray,
I put a conciare spring in mine(refreshment cart spring).$10. from Yamaha. I think I put the tangs in B - 3.
Works good for me, I've pulled a trailer filled with rock out of the mountains with it, carrying 3 people to boot.
Others may have opinions, but I'm happy.

Rib, i can't remember! A, ya I can, been around race cars since I was probably 14 and tough guys didn't wear hearing protection then and I've been a cabinet maker for the last 35 yrs. I have a mid engine sand rail with a 200 horse motor about 8 inches from my ears! 26 yrs. of that and I can't hear, even if I wanted to! Its worse right at the pitch of my wife's voice tho. May or may not be a good thing!!??

How do you guys get those smiley guys in your posts? I have a Mac and I don't know how to do turn that on.
