Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
I'll try that, thank you. Do you think that the rev limiter could be the reason it won't start right up? Or is that probably something else?

Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
WAIT!!! I just remembered...
96 is the year that CC changed from an igniter from behind the rev limiter, and then integrated it with the coil, You may have an igniter under your rev limiter! |

Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
I'll try and tighten it down and see what happens. Thanks so much for the help. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
Good point RSP!
The Rev limiter, or Ignitor shouldn't keep it from turning over, The Solenoid, key switch, or micro switches would though! I'm a little out of my realm with key start carts! |

Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
The key start is real simple, turn key to on, that turns on ignition, soon as you hit the pedal thats when the solinoid activates the starter i think, so when you stop the cart the solinoid deactivates, but the key switch keeps the spark plug firing, been along time since i did one like that, mine starts soon as i touch the pedal.........

Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
This one starts just like a car. You don't have to touch the pedal to start it , just when you want to go.

Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
Actually... no, I know your a cart tech RSP, and I don't mean to step on your toes but,
it's always been to my understanding that that's how key start carts are... off, on, and a momentary start at the key switch, The key switch, voltage regulator, 1 extra wire in the harness, and the ACR, (Automatic Compression Relief valve) are really the only things that that are different from pedal start carts. ChickD... sorry, I don't know what else to tell you! |

Re: Rev limiter bad ground?
Nope, that's factory.
Long distance guess, I would check the solenoid for power going to the starter when the key is turned to start position and check the starter brushes. ChickD, have you turned the key and held it in the start position for say 10 seconds and see if the starter will rotate? |
