Gas Precedent - Firing Solenoid - Ground Switched?
What conditions need to be present to get the solenoid to fire?
I'm thinking the orange wire has to go to ground to get it to fire, does that sound right? Does the blue wire have to be hot or grounded? I've got a precedent golf cart that wasn't cranking when I got it. I unhooked the wire to the rev limiter and jumped the solenoid and it will start and run that way. I can't get it to crank over on it's own for anything. The black box on the gas pedal was replaced. The green and orange wires are N.O. and the black and bk/wh wires are N.C., and it switches back and forth when I push the pedal. The solenoid has been swapped out, and I'm starting to wonder if it isn't the right one or if it is just bad. Can I just go to Autozone and grab a solenoid? Do I need a solenoid that is ground switched like a snow plow or an old Ford starter solenoid? |

Re: Gas Precedent - Firing Solenoid - Ground Switched?
I stopped at a local shop today that had a CC Precedent for sale and they were nice enough to put a voltmeter on the solenoid for me.
The blue control wire on the solenoid is hot (+12V) The orange wire reads +12V, and then when the gas pedal is pushed down to crank the engine it goes to ground (0V). So, to fire the solenoid you need +12 from the blue wire and ground from the orange wire. |
