Jakes a arm versus spindle
What is difference performance wise between Jakes A arm n Spindle. Is installation about the same. Still kind of confused about difference. Again, thought altering a perfectly good golf car would be easier. Pros n cons of A arm versus spindle lift. Thanks again for any help.

Re: Jakes a arm versus spindle
They are a lot different in form, function and installation in my opinion.
With a spindle lift all you are getting is a new spindle. You simply install the new spindle in place of the old spindle and you are done. Installation is easy and fast and is done with not a whole lot more than the removal of a few bolts. With the a-arm lift you are essentially getting an entirely new front suspension. The a-arm set up will come with new upper and lower A-arms, a new leaf spring, new spindle, all new nuts and bolts, etc. Basically you are upgrading the entire suspension. While installation is more complex than a spindle lift it is still pretty easy and with some general mechanical knowledge/skill and basic hand tools (and a pickle fork) you can have it all done in a few hours (certainly in an afternoon). Pro's of the A-arm lift: Ride and handling if doing some off roading will be better with the a-arm lift and you will also have an entirely new front suspension on the cart. It looks a lot cooler too. Con's of the A-arm lift: Price difference is significant, installation is a bit more complex. Pro's of a spindle lift: Simple install and affordable. Since you don't have A-arms hanging down you do have good ground clearance in the center of the cart. Con's of a spindle lift: Still using original front end components. You can put a lot of stress on the spindle and cheap chinese spindle kits (not the Jakes kits so much) can be known to fail. I think there is some issues with kingpin's failing as well from time to time. |

Re: Jakes a arm versus spindle
Thanks for the explanation. Think Im sticking with Jakes Spindle lift since there will be no trail riding or off road use.

Re: Jakes a arm versus spindle
Got the pm. I chose the a arm because the wheel and tire package I chose was not recommended for the spindle lift.
