Default 89 clubcar ds

Hi guys I'm new to golf carts and my 89 ds gas cart doesn't always want to start you have to wiggle the forward reverse switch and sometimes hit the peddle hard does this sound like the two micro switches at the forward reverse switch

Yes that sounds plausible. Try flipping the little yellow cam on the backside of the shifter and run the motor in neutral (maintenance mode). It's probably easier than trying to figure out what's happening while you're moving. This way you can flip the switches with your finger while trying to start it. Just a thought.

My 89 was doing this too. I adjusted the rod connecting the F-N-R knob to get batter contact. At first I replaced the micro switches and found it would do nothing! Pushing the knob further finally got the motoring turning. From here I just loosed the adjusting screw and kind of went from there.

The previous advice I gave may be bad advice. I started having the same problem and tried to adjust this some more and broke the piece that connects the F-N-R switch to the cable! I think that my F-N-R switch is worn and and trying to find a new one.
