Adding Dynetech adjustable rev limiter
Picked up a Dynatech adjustable rev limiter so I can run a little higher but still have the over rev protection.
Everything on it wires up an should work as it is just a ground kill switch setup EXCEPT... I have no idea where to grab a pulse signal to feed it. My cart is a '97 DS and from looking at the manual it appears that the igniter/coil is all one unit so I can't grab a pulse signal from anywhere. I already tried tapping in to the wire that ran to the old limiter but it doesn't seem to work as I can rev to the moon. Any ideas? Anyone else encountered this? Also, had someone suggest just wrapping a few turns of wire around the spark plug wire to generae a pulse. Sees that it would work. Does the plug fire on every revolution of the motor even on exhaust stroke? Seems it would have to if it's fired off by a magnet on the flywheel.... Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Ok,
Figured out today as I was installing a relay for my lights that the wire I grabbed key-on 12v from was only hot while key on but engine not running. So once the engine started the wire dropped to 0v. Could explain why the Limiter didn't work!!! I'll try hooking it up again tomorrow to a known 12v power source and see if I can get it to work! Re: Adding Dynetech adjustable rev limiter
The yellow and blue wire connection on the back of the key switch should give you 12v key on/engine running, and 0v key off.

Yes. True. I was trying to grab something in the engine compartment that was a little closer. :-). Anyway, found it.

So I have the drl-300. Is this what you are using? Also which wires went where?

Re: Adding Dynetech adjustable rev limiter
What wire did you use for the pulse wire, or did you wrap around the sparkplig wire?

Haven't been able to get it to work. No place to get a pulse easily. Tried wrapping the plug wire but no go either. Anyone know how MANY wraps of the plug wire? And where does the OTHER end of that wire go?
I tried a wire from ground to the wrap to the pulse input on the box. Didn't work. Any ideas?? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

You really can't use the magneto system mounted to these carts since the waveform produced is unrecognisable to the components you are trying to install and as you have found out already, the standard rev limiter wire won't accept this signal either. Chris. |

Re: Adding Dynetech adjustable rev limiter
Would something like this work? A Inductive Tachometer sensor.
