Not aftermarket, that's what mine looks like on my '87...those are not easy to find. But a cart mechanic I talked to the other day said that the '90-'91 coil will still work as a replacement for the older coils. I'll have to ask him about the plug mismatch...

Well that's wierd... I guess the previous owner swapped the ignition system or something. I'm 99% sure my cart is a '91. Says so in the serial number.

Since this is a mid 80's version of the KF82 ignition system, do you know if the pickup has points or not? If so, then i could probably hook up a car coil to it and revive the cart. If i cant find a new coil... Well, anyone want to buy a KF82 with a fresh top end rebuild and a brand new carburator?
 Need this cart for running a gig in fall, so if worse comes to worse, it will come down to a GX420 Swap, UNLESS a miracle happens. |

It's a magneto system, so there are no points. It has an exciting coil behind the flywheel.

Sh*t, well thats too bad... Guess if i can't find a coil soon, Clone swap it is.
I always kind of liked the KF82. Easy to work on, simple, authentic, push pedal start is pretty nice.  I'll start another thread if it comes to selling the engine. |

Keep watch on the forums if you do decide to sell it. Seems like there's at least 1 or 2 guys looking for one every month. They usually need one because their rotating assembly blew up, so they likely have a good coil. On the flip side, we also have lots of guys who have done clone swaps and have KF82 motors of all different conditions sitting in dark corners of their garages...
