Default Replacing crank seals. Help

I need some information about replacing the crank seals in a 244cc robin. I heard you can remove the flywheel by backing the nut to the end of the bolt and cracking it with a hammer. Is this the best method for the shade tree cart builder? I ordered a top end kit and it came with them so i might as well use them while it's out

How is whackin the end of the crank/nut with a hammer going to remove the flywheel? Doesn't sound too smart. If you tear up the crank in the process your really going to be in a jamb. IMO you are far better off spending a little money and buy or borrow a puller.....even a shade tree cart builder should have one.

Thats why i was asking. I read a thread here that someone said the "cart proffesor" told them to do it that way and it worked great. I just wanted a few more opinions.

I just used the method i described and the flywheel fell off with two whacks on the end of the nut. I don't necessarily recommend doing it but i did not damage anything. That and a home made clutch puller (3/4" fine thread bold and a cut off 3/8" bolt) it only cost me $2.60 to get to the seals
