Default Start Up Problem-88 Ez-go 2 Stroke

When I first got my cart the thing wouldn't run without continously wiggling the clutch in/out sometimes. It would run for a while and then start bogging down. I didn't ride it much at the time and decided to tune it up a little and let it set.

My cart will turn over but it will not run/move now. It seems to be getting spark from two different plugs (one old-one new). It would arc at the coil when I held the plug wire just off of the coil and the plug gave me a little spark as well.

The fuel pump is new and has fuel in it. Fuel comes out of the line where it goes into the carb when you go to start it so I know it is getting fuel.

The starter/generator spins when I try to start it and so does the drive clutch. Of course the belt gets tight on the driven clutch attached to the differential which isn't being moved any.

So where would you all recomend me starting at to solve the issue?

I would do a compression check.

Have you cleaned the carb? I usually clean mine at least twice a year, especially the needle valve.

I am going to do a comp check tomorrow to check that. The carb hasn't been cleaned since I bought it a few months ago. I will try both things tomorrow to see what I can find out.

make sure you do a very good job on the carb..........don,t forget anything , take a peice of wire and go thur all the holes in the jets get every openoin you can see and than with a good compressor blow everything out every opening every port every hole in ever jet........take your time and do it right, they can be a pain but you can bring them back to like new cond. most of the time...sometimes though you end up just having to throw themn away and get a new one........good luck and use carb cleaner or amesoil power foam both work quite well...................................

I checked the compression and luckily it is pushing 110lbs when I checked it twice. The carb wasn't very dirty when I took it apart and cleaned it.

After reinstalling the carb, it started right up. It threw a few big puffs of white smoke for a few seconds. I drove it down the road a little and it seemed to be as fast at it ever was before too. Hopefully it will run okay now. I did notice that now the choke actually seems to work like it should now!
