Default How should I proceed?

I have a 1987 melex that's (for the most part) in solid shape other than the electronics. It has the coil resistor and swiper board setup that we all love. My two options (assuming I want to keep the cart and throw more money into it) would be to replace the coil set, sweeper board, solenoid and any of the other electronics. I assume this option would run me about $130. The other option would be to convert to solid state. Not really sure on the cost or difficulty of do this modification.
For total cost, I still think rebuilding this cart is much cheaper than throwing down $1500-$2000 for a newer used model.

Any thoughts on how I should proceed?
