Default Roypow S51105P install in EZGO RXV

Hello all-

Has anyone installed a Roypow S51105P in a late model RXV with a plastic battery tray? I have one of the batteries sitting here in my garage and it looks like it will take some major trimming of the tray to get it to fit.

Thanks!

A few pictures from the S51105P install in my 2017 RXV. Black RXV did most of the work and had already installed the same S51105P in his RXV last week.

A few points, first, we didn't get any instructions or the install kit. I'm still trying to track that down. I've had no luck so far, but we had enough of the parts to complete the install anyway. The biggest items we are missing is the adapter for the RoyPow charger to plug directly into the RXV standard charging port and the heavy gauge power and ground lines. At least I think both come with the install kit.

Black RXV made custom 2 gauge power and ground lines for both of us for the install.

The biggest issue we ran into is that the S51105P is slightly longer than the S51105 battery. Our RXV battery trays have an inside diameter of 22" (well my 2017 was 22" and his 2013 was 19 3/4"). The S51105P is 22 1/8" when measured from the outside of the mounting plates. On his 2013, he used a sawzall to cut out slots on both sides of his battery tray, on my 2017, we only had to cut a slot on the drivers side of the tray.

Another difference between the S51105P and the S51105 is the S51105P comes with a giant resistor for the regen brakes. It was easy enough for us to mount that against the back wall of the battery tray, but on some carts, I could see where the size of that thing might cause some install problems.

Of course, we didn't have any mounting parts. Frankly, because we had to slot the battery tray, I'm not certain what they would have provided. Black RXV ended up re-using the original battery bolt down kit for his. I had some long bolts and backing plates lying around so I used the S5110P mounting plates to bolt mine down.

Both carts and up and running now. The Navitas controller app had the S51105P listed and the Navitas recognized the new battery immediately. This battery + the Navitas was good for 45mph on a test run. :-)

What tire size and gears are you running where you are hitting 45?
What RPMs are you turning at WOT?
Thanks

I will be able to pull that data once it stops raining here. It looks like Navitas has our RPM limit set at 16383. My wheel and tire combo is 20 1/2". MTS's cart has a slightly larger combination.

16383 is max number the app will accept for a number of parameters , not just RPM limit, but the motor can't turn anywhere near that. Kind of like max speed - you can input a high number that isn't possible.

AFAIK, stock RXVs have a gear ratio around 15:1 and I think 9K is RPM limit on the Navitas so to hit 45mph with 20.5" tires you apparently are running a much lower gear ratio than stock?

I believe that RXVs have 17:1

It can't turn anywhere near that, though it may be possible to set that in the app.

I have one, and I'm pretty certain the limit is hard-coded in the FW and the limit you select in the app is only adhered to if it is lower than the hard-coded max.

FWIW, I can turn right around 8600 (with it set to around 10K in the app).

If that's the case, if you do the math, about 32mph is what you should expect to see at WOT in an RXV with a Navitas (assuming 9K redline), stock gears and 20.5" tires. Going to 23" tires should probably get you to 36mph.
