Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
I understand other carts things maybe different so that is why I was so specific as to what my situation was.

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
Are there EZGO specific part numbers for the Comet 780 or more of a one size fits all?

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
One size fits all 1" straight shaft engines. There 2 belt widths to cover the 2 different sized secondaries in carts. The narrow one is used in Club Cars so that would not apply to your cart.

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
Thanks
One reference says: Never run clutch without a 1 3/16" - 1 1/4" wide belt installed |

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
The thought there is the temptation to test run the engine with the clutch installed and no belt. This can cause damage at the very least and a little tricky to get the clutch back to the "closed" position without getting your fingers caught.

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
How do I run or fit the wider necessary belt when using the Comet clutch?
The other clutch also needs to be replaced or upgraded or modified? drive clutch is on the motor shaft and driven clutch is towards the rear axle? |

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
Look at the Vegascarts installation guide for your cart. Lots of pics and you can see what needs to be done or purchased. The great thing about them the info is there even if you don't buy from them. BUT their stuff is high quality at a price not matched anywhere else that I have found.

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
Well good thing I contacted VC. Here's what they said:
On an EZGO you want to avoid a 780 and stick with a CVTech 06, heres the link: https://vegascarts.com/collections/c...tech-series-06 The belt width is the same |

Re: Best Clutch for 18hp Briggs
That is the other option. I haven't used one BUT VC has tons of experience on different swaps in different carts. Pretty much the go to place for Vtwin headers.
