new ac motor upgrade
just trying to find out what to torque the new motor bolts down to. I replaced the old bolts because they were only grade 3 not grade 5 like suggested by Club Car. Since there's only three bolts holding all that power to the transaxle, I want to get them as tight as possible without hurting the aluminum transaxle threads. Any advice on torque specs.whould be appreciated. Ps.Or any good ideas others have done.

Re: new ac motor upgrade
If you want shear strength use grade 8 bolts.
Torque is not super important, however Over tightening will cause the bolts to stretch and will weaken them, or can pull the threads off. Snug is about right. I like a dab of blue lock tite on the threads on these. |

Re: new ac motor upgrade
I prefer to use anti-seize compound and lock washers
1/4-20 bolts torque to 76 inch lbs 5/16-18 torque to 13 foot lbs I also agree with fairtax4me on the grade 8 bolts, extra strength can't hurt. When I put the Navitas motor on my cart there were only 3 bolts on the original motor but there were 6 bolt holes so I used 6 bolts. Clean the threads out with a tap before you proceed. |
