Default Is this a solinoid problem?

I have a PDS cart. I opened the control box and looked at the solinoid. THe positive lead has been hot and actually melted the plastic part of the solinoid a bit where the positive lead is connected. The wire looks like it has been hot also. Is this a potential problem? I just want to catch anything that is going to be a bigger problem later.

Default Re: Is this a solinoid problem?

Yes the solenoid probably needs to be replaced. The are a lot of reasons why this could be happening. Simple reason is the solenoid is going bad. More in depth reasons could be batteries that are going bad that is making the solenoid heat up. Solenoids are cheap so for now just replace the solenoid. If you burn up a second one then you know for sure you have another problem. Check all of your connections on the solenoid, controller, batteries, and motor to make sure that none of them or loose or also fried. Just this week I had to replace a solenoid that had fried because of a fried terminal on the motor. I know this is a lot of info so if you have any questions I would be happy to help.

Thanks for the information. I am going to check the rest of the connections this afternoon and get a solenoid on order.
