Yamaha G16e - new batteries little power
I'm new to golf carts. Just bought a 1999 Yamaha G16e. The batteries were shot. I replaced all 6 just 2 weeks ago. After brief usage, I charged them for the first time. The charger said 15.6 hours before it turned off (my cart is out of town at a recreational dwelling).
The thing seems ok on flat surfaces but has no hill power. A, 8% incline slows it to a walk. I'm suspecting the motor. Anyone have ideas? Thanks, Mike T |

Is the cart lifted? What size tires do you have? Do you have the flip flop back seat?

Not lifted. Just a regular old golf cart of the course. Standard tires, no back seat.

Re: Yamaha G16e - new batteries little power
I am fairly new to the cart world myself, but I think you first need to verify that all of your new batteries are good. If you can get your hands of a load tester, and get a reading on all of your batteries. Once you have ascertained that all of your batteries are good, I would check your cables to make sure they are all good and clean. If you are using #6 gauge cabling, I would upgrade it to at least #4 gauge. As far as testing to see if you need to check your controller or motor, I know there are far more experienced people on this site that can chime in on that one. Good luck

Did you replace the cables when you replaced the batteries?

Re: Yamaha G16e - new batteries little power
I'm having the same issue with power for my 97 G16E. I just picked it up last night for a great price. It has no pull on inclines and slows even more when weighed done. I have old batteries, which I need to get tested before I make the purchase and it's not the problem.

Check the forward/reverse, it is probably bad and not making full contact. Scottyb just built a hd one.
