New batteries and little power

Hey all,

I just installed new batteries in my Club Car, 48 Volt system, and I have charged them and used it three times. Problem is that I have very little power in forward, as for reverse I have full power. Now something tells me I didn't hook the batteries in reverse....LOL.... I am wondering as to where the issue would be, in the Forward/Reverse rocker switch, or in the Motor Controller Output Regulator? Am I in the right area or am I missing something in this system. I have read my owners manuel from the front to back and I can't make any sense of it. Any input would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have Forward and Reverse switched.... these carts use 1/2 power in Rev. for safety...

I didnt touch anything else at all. Other than change the batteries....

Ok good news, found the problem, of course one battery in the system went dead as a door nail, all cells in the battery were dead, odd being a brand new battery but thats the luck of the draw. Hopefully I can put it on a pulse charger and save it but we'll see.

Why play with it...take the dang thing back and get another battery. Im sure all bettery companys have at least some free replacement policy for a defective battery if done within a "reasonable" time from date of purchase.

OXFORDLAWN is correct, take the battery back to supplier and replace it right away.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GET A NEW BATTERY.
Wondering what brand of batterys did you install? This can happen with any battery made but not that often.
I think when you replace the bad battery you will find that you still will have the same problem with wiring hooked up wrong and or switched around? Its very easy to do and we ( ALL ) have done it more than once.

The batteries i purchased were trojans, good batteries, and was just purchased about three weeks ago, and it was dead to begin with and the battery is going to be replaced by the company as it was new one, using an older one is just a quick fix until the new one comes in.
