Default Cart failed to move

I had a strange occurrence this morning on a 2001 TXT series cart. We got this cart about a month back and have been using it for daily trips to the store. It has run perfectly until this morning when I got on it, turned on the key switch, put the selector in "F", and pressed the accelerator pedal. It clicked, made a very slight bump, and didn't move. I then tried "R", and the same result. I then rocked the cart slightly (a couple of inches) and off she went! Could this mean the motor brushes were stuck? I can't think of anything that would be changed by moving the cart a little except something in the motor. Ok, now if ya'll think it is in the motor brushes, can they be accessed with the motor in the cart? It is a stock EZGO motor.

That might be brushes, or it could be a broken connection between the commutator and the armature windings.

The service manual starts with pulling the motor.
Anyway, the motor bearing is press fit into the end cap and the splines on the other end of the armature shaft are most likely stuck to the splines on the differential input shaft, so I doubt if you could get the end cap off even if there was enough room to work.

I have heard of extremely worn brushes acting up like that. If its brushes let me know I found a set in the old service truck that might be a fit....

I would recommend servicing your motor pronto. If it's acting that way you may just have worn out brushes but it will kill the commutator if you drive it that way too long.

Thanks for everyone's replies! We're getting a 91 Club Car together so when she's ready I'll be digging into an EZGO motor!
I remember someone saying "carts are addictive". They were correct!
I'll throw up some pics soon!
