6 gauge or 4 Gauge
Hi just new here
I just picked up a 2006 EZGO TXT and enjoying things so far. My unit came with 6 ge battery wires and would like to know if changing to 4 ge would make any appreciable performance difference Thanks for any and all comments r |

Re: 6 gauge or 4 Gauge
We'll see what the experts say, but I think that with a stock set up the cables will be fine unless you do a lot of hill climbing then you might see some heat build up in the 6ga. If you make any upgrades to the controller, you will need 4 ga minimum.
Now let's see if I am right!! |

Re: 6 gauge or 4 Gauge
Every cart I get in used, I changed to 4ga (all of the cables). The 6 ga just dont hold up. 4ga runs cooler. you wont necessarly see a speed increase, but you will gain little more torque on hills due to the cables can flow more amps.

Re: 6 gauge or 4 Gauge
Most folks make their own with some good welding cable and lugs. Use a HD lug and a high strand count cable, most prefer the crimp and solder method.

Not taking away from site sponsors, but sometimes EZGO runs specials on the complete kits. Check out mikesmotortoys (site sponsor) he has a link to the EZGO site.

Re: 6 gauge or 4 Gauge
Great feedback from all you guys. Thanks.
Once I get all sorted out, then I could see messing about making my own 4ga could be a sorta fun project. I will for sure have to spend some time checking out the various sponsors....... |
