1999 CC DS resistor cart keeps burning up V-glide switches
Posted about this cart before and got it running by replacing: all resistors, resistor board, v glide, batteries and cables and solenoid. After a few weeks this cart has managed to burn up yet another brand new v glide arm. It still runs albeit very slow and almost to a crawl. Anyone have this problem before or know where I should look next? Motor? Thanks in advance

Re: 1999 CC DS resistor cart keeps burning up V-glide switches
Post a picture of the resistor board to make sure the resistors and cables are installed in the proper sequence.
Partial throttle driving is very hard on that old high current VGlide design since You have no way to know how much pad-to-pad contact is being made, if the wiper arm is barely touching the next pad it will heat up a lot due to the surface contact area being so small. |

Something is causing that as in arching. You can see where the arc's are pitting. I have not seen it to that extent without there being an alignment issue. Very strange....

The resistors look right, that white cable should be going to the VGlide on the same post as the wiper arm, correct?
Did you align the wiper ARM last time you replaced it? |

It is going to the wiper arm and by align you mean adjust so that it starts at the bottom of the vglide?

The alignment is to make sure the pad surfaces are parallel to each other.
It is also good to paint the pad surface with some kind of erasable ink so you can verify how much contact is being made by moving the wiper arm and allowing it to scrape the ink off. Here is the procedure: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ml#post1149827 |

Thanks I’ll have to order a new arm as this one is toast [emoji2361]. I’ll report the results when I get one

Do you have the stock motor installed?
The 3.5HP motor uses different resistors for the 2 higher speed coils, they have 4 turns and a heavier gauge wire. |

Yes it’s still the stock motor.
