Default 18hp duromax ez-go txt swap

I just did a full engine swap on my ez-go txt, I bought the mounting kit from VC and installed a 780 torque converter and removed both governors from engine and took the governor bracket off axle. I installed stage 1 on engine with heavy valve springs. I took it on a ride for the first time and it only goes 21mph, I thought it would go abt 25+. Why am I not going 25+ at 3800rpm? I have a 6” lift with 23” tires setup. Any suggestions?

The main reason would be your overall gearing ,a high speed gear swap for 8:1 gears in your transaxle is the best solution. If you have billet rod and flywheel you could push your rpm up to 4500 and get close to 25mph with your 23" rear tires without the gear swap. Since you did a stage 1 you may not have gone with the billet rad and flywheel, best to keep rpm under 4000. Keep in mind that golf carts can be unstable at these speeds.

It struggles to get to 21mph at 3400rpm. If I push it to the pedal, it wants to go but want. It’s like my setup want let my engine get higher than stock rpm. I don’t get why! With both governors deleted it should be hitting 25+.

Make sure your belt has only 1" deflection . Too lose a belt results in a top speed loss. And of course the right width belt for your clutches.

I don’t get it bc I have the same setup what redbeardsgarage did. He was doing 21mph on the road with over 200lb people. I just weight 125lbs and it’s lifted so it should go faster bc it’s lifted with 23” tires.

I am running an 1 1/4 extra HD belt pretty tight and picked up a couple more mph. Also note I changed the VC supplied comet's weights to 68 gms. and the springs from the yellow to the green. Also my secondary on the yamaha is set on B 1. All these changes result in clutches that reach full speed at lower rpms.

I am running a new 28degree secondary clutch. If I change the weights on the 780 comet clutch, do you think I will gain any speed?

Yeah, something isn't right, I got 28mph on my older EZ-go and I was running the original engine, 22" tires a tighter belt for stronger low end, and just adjusted the rear-end governor and I still had more adjustment to boost it up a couple more mph... not sure the difference in rear-end gearing between the txt and the Marathon...

Yeah that what I been sayin, I have watched and read so my forums and they go over 25+. I am running stock rear gearing of 12:1, it makes no sense why it struggles to go 21 at 3800rpm, when I hit the pedal to the ground it really doesn’t do anything. I want to figure this out. Could my governor be stuck in my axle?
