2006 ez go Workhorse can I make it faster?
My workhorse will go about 15 mph on flat ground 22 mph down hill and about 10 mph uphill. How can I make it faster with out it costing a lot of money? I hope I can do something with out it costing anything but a little time and work.

u can adjust the govoner but doing that will take away the low end speed and wear on your motor. just my .02cents

Re: 2006 ez go Workhorse can I make it faster?
The motor seems to be running at high rpms all ready.
It must have low gears in the rear end. I was thinking there could be something I could to the carb. and or the exhaust. Thanks for your help. |

If speed (faster) is your objective:
1. Replace stock tires with bigger ones. Just the rear tires if you have budget constraints and you don't mind an unbalance-looking set-up. You can get bigger 8" tires without replacing your 8" rims. Look for a 20" diameter tire. Trade off: less pulling power and slower take-off; less fuel efficient 2. Adjust governor. Trade off: If you keep runnning at top rpm, engine deterioration is faster. If budget is not an issue, change the gear ratio. Stock carts are geared at 13:1 or so. Get an 8 or 8.5:1. Pricey though. A lot faster but less pulling power. |

More than likely if you have a workhorse model you have a 28 deg. clutch. This will automatically raise your rpm's on take off and affect your top end speed. You can adjust your gov. which is free or a clutch change to a 36 deg. which is kinda pricey. I'd give the gov. a try and see how you like it.

Re: 2006 ez go Workhorse can I make it faster?
It has 22x11.5X10 tires on it now. I will try the gov. first. Then look for bigger tires.
What should the max. safe rpms be? My workhorse has a 350 Robin with 360 hours on it. I think I know how to check gear ratio. Trun the rear cvc and count the turns it takes to turn the wheel one time. Is that how you do it ? Thanks for your help. Last edited by bud light; 11-25-2010 at 11:36 PM.. Reason: Did not ask about gear ratio. |
