48 to 12 volt reducer
Can some one tell me how to wire a 48volt to 12 volt reducer to precedent lights.I know where to wire to the batteries but not sure where to wire the 12volt side because the lights are pluged in under the dash.I'm sure this has got to be simple.
Thanks,Tom |

Re: 48 to 12 volt reducer
What I want to do is run my headlights and tail lights not off of one 12 volt battery but the whole pack converted to 12 volts. That way I won't run down one battery.I have four twelves.

Re: 48 to 12 volt reducer
Correct and that is why I think a converter may be the better way to go. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in on a using a converter over a reducer.

Re: 48 to 12 volt reducer
iTMOELLER,...i believe the answer is that inside the bucket there is a blue wire tab coming of the + side of the #4 battery. This is the +12 volts that runs the lights. So the answer to your question would be to connect your converter/Reducer to the + and - of the entire span for 4 batteries and then disconnect the blue wire on #4 battery and connect that blue wire to the output of your converter/reducer. That blue line should already have a 15 amp fuse in it for everything under the dash and lights.

Re: 48 to 12 volt reducer
I thought of doing that but where do I connect the negative output wire to the lights?

Re: 48 to 12 volt reducer
Itmoeller,.... Since I don't know what year cart you have or even the model,... most carts have some kind of wiring harness that has already supplied the "GROUND" wire to the front display panel. I don't think you need to worry about it. Just measure the voltage from the converter output to the most negative terminal of the last battery,..as that is the "True Ground". If you are concered about that then just add a new black wire from that terminal to where ever you will need the new +12 volts.

Re: 48 to 12 volt reducer
Let me try this again.I have a 2008 precedent with factory headlamps and taillamps. It has four twelve volt batteries.I have a 48 to 12 volt voltage reducer.I want directions to install this voltage reducer so that my lights are run on the whole pack not just one twelve volt battery. Thus 48 to 12.
Thanks,Tom |

Re: 48 to 12 volt reducer
Itmoller,... I think Erict has it right but he did not mention the outputs. Since you have the factory bucket harness, then the positive (+12 volt output) from your convert must be connect to the blue with in the bucket area. The blue wire right now is connect to either the positive terminal of #4 or to the negative terminal of #3 (these are connected via large guage cable). Disconnect the blue wire at that point and connect it to the + output of your converter. If you converters has a negative or - output then this should be connected to the negative terminal of #4. Hope this helps.
