![]() Could be a number of reasons, most likely is cost. If Kohler can provide a similar product at a discounted rate, why not change? The base cost of the cart is still about the same and if Kohler could provide a price break, no matter how small, that goes directly to CC's bottom line.

![]() It's not a cost factor... It is because Subaru got out of the small engine game about a year and a half ago. Their automotive group is expanding faster than they can keep up with, so they are focusing on their automotive line and future automotive EV lines.
http://subarupower.com/ Kohler makes excellent engines, however. I don't think anyone will have any issues with their longevity. Their engines are used all over in high end commercial mowing and other commercial equipment, and known to go thousands of hours without issue if maintained. |

![]() Does that mean that in a couple years nobody will be able to service these engines? If so, thats a big bummer.

![]() No, support is there. Plus there's enough of these engines running around from past years that replacement parts should be available for some time to come. And then aftermarket companies will start knocking them off. They dropped their small engine division in October 2017 and still, very few people have seemed to notice other than the Subaru engine is no longer available in new carts...
From the link above: Industrial Power Products of America, Inc. will be responsible for supplying replacement parts to our distribution network as well as handling warranty claims. Effective September 10th, 2018 our new address is: Industrial Power Products DBA as Subaru Power Products 10801 88th Avenue Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 |
