Unhappy slower speed after rebuilt motor

Hello,

I rebuilt motor and runs beautifully......BUT it had a top speed of 25 before rebuild and now it is at 14. Also I noticed that fuel is not filling the fuel filter, there is very little fuel in filter. I am nervous to drive because I don't want another blown motor. P.S. Im not even sure why the motor seized in the first place but the piston was destroyed. Any insight would be appreciated. 89 EZ GO 2 stroke

My guess would be that it over revved at 25 mph.

What size tires are you running?

Maybe it just needs some break in time to seat the rings. You should be running a 40:1 mixture on the gas for the first tank.

I would ask if you put the rings in with the bevel side up, but it probably wouldn't run at all if they were wrong.

The fuel filters always look like they are half full. Not a problem there.
